‘The Narottam Sxerio Trust’ has allocated funds worth Rs. 30 lakh for Yashaswini Abhiyan.

With the efforts of Mr. Vijay Kumar Gavit, Tribal Minister of Maharashtra, Tribal Self Help Groups have been formed which would be functioning under Yashaswini Abhiyan.

Today, the total number of women coordinators are 422. It is estimated that 350 women coordinators can be appointed in the near future.

Women coordinators are appointed at various levels in all the districts and talukas of Maharashtra. (Currently Mumbai is excluded.)

Yashaswini Abhiyaan

Yashaswini Abhiyan was launched by Supriya Sule on Savitribai Phule Jayanti on 3rd January 2008. The project was initiated under the auspices of Yashwantrao Chavan Pratishthan, Mumbai.

The prime objective of Yashaswini Abhiyan is to empower the women in the state of Maharashtra who are below poverty level and the lower income group.

The objectives of Yashaswini Abhiyaan are:

 

     

Establish women Self Help Groups (SHGs).

     

    

Increase crop productivity.

Enhance teamwork between the SHGs.

Help and support access to local, urban and overseas markets for SHG products

Make women economically self- sufficient through small savings.

     

     

 

     

 

 

 

In the meeting conducted on 14th May, 2008, Hon. Mr. Sharad Pawar, the Union Minister for Agriculture emphasized the need for vocational guidance to the women of Self Help Groups. He further stated that a company could be formed by the name ‘Yashaswini’ to carry out sell of the products in the local markets with an ultimate goal of exporting to overseas markets.
